In the high-stakes environment of the enterprise data center, IT architects are constantly seeking solutions to complex performance, reliability, and security challenges. Director-class switches have long supported long-distance connectivity options and feature-rich software suites designed specifically for synchronous and asynchronous data replication between storage arrays over the SAN fabric. The entire solution—from the local fabric to the wide-area links and the remote fabric—can be managed and monitored through a unified set of tools. The inherent reliability and high performance of Fibre Channel ensure that replication can keep up with the rate of data change, allowing businesses to meet stringent Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs), thus solving one of the most fundamental challenges of enterprise IT.
